The governor of Rivers state Nyesom Wike, made this know during a courtesy visit of the management of Jesuit Memorial College. He said that he schools were shut, for failing to meet specified standards of the state Ministry of Education.
He said that parents patronizing the affected schools had been told to relocate their kids before the next academic session began. He further explained that his administration is committed to transforming the state and empowering its people through an enhanced education sector.
He condemned examination malpractice associated with some illegal schools operating as WAEC centers in the state. According to the him, most illegal schools have become WAEC magic centres where examination malpractices are promoted.
